Latin American Spanish vs European Spanish

When it comes to translation, Spanish breaks down into two basic types, the Spanish of Spain (a.k.a. European Spanish, Iberian Spanish, Peninsular Spanish or EUSPAN) and Latin American Spanish, which, itself can be grouped into Latin American Standard Spanish, a “standard” register that is acceptable all through Latin America, Mexico and the United States, and is the type used in television and the dubbing industry, as well as several subgroups, essentially one for every country. If sending out a press release to the entire Spanish speaking world, it is recommended to send out two versions, a Latin American Standard version for all of the Americas, and a European Spanish version for Spain and Equatorial Guinea. Mexican Spanish is considered the most different from all of the others. If Mexico is a key market when preparing a document for all of Latin America, it is generally recommended to edit a special version for Mexico and use Latin American Standard Spanish for the rest.
